Due to no resolution being reached today with the WVSSAC and the WV Supreme Court, football playoff games for all four classes have been postponed.
Per the WVSSAC, playoffs will begin following the determination of an appropriate legal resolution.
A statement was released on Tuesday by David Price, WVSSAC Executive Director: "We are extremely disappointed to not be having the playoffs this weekend. We understand the frustration from all of the parties involved, and we want nothing more than to put the focus back on the student-athletes and their pursuit of a championship. However, we must abide by the decisions of the courts and their timeline."

It's no secret by now that the state of the WVSSAC High School Football Playoffs are in jeopardy.
As of 9:31pm last night it was reported that a Mason County Cicuit Judge had issued a ruling ordering play-in games this Friday night in AAA with matchups of Point Pleasant vs. St. Albans and Hampshire vs. Capital.
This order alone, postpones the opening round of the AAA playoffs. However, things get stickier the further we go.
Yesterday (note a federal/state holiday) a lawsuit was filed on behalf of Westside High School in Wyoming County seeking injunctive relief. Westside is essentially challenging Saturday's initial injunction brought forward by Wood County Schools, an injunction that bumped the 7-3 Renegades from the AA field of 16.
As of this morning, a source close to Fresh Off the Clock has stated that per SSAC there will be no play-in games and that they are working as diligently as possible to get the issues in front of an emergency session of the WV State Supreme Court in order for the court to decide which ratings will be used.
Thus, the current bottom line is that all games for this weekend are at the hands of the WV State Supreme Court and until a decision is made from them there is no set ranking, schedule, or group of opponents.
Stay tuned to Fresh Off the Clock as there are major changes expected to occur as the day progresses.
