As summer workouts begin, two proud programs—PikeView and Richlands—are preparing to rewrite their stories in 2025.

Led by committed coaching staffs, gritty senior leaders, and a renewed sense of identity, both teams are working to leave behind past struggles and ignite competitive seasons built on toughness, brotherhood, and belief. Here’s a full breakdown of where each team stands heading into fall.

PikeView Panthers 2025 Football Season Preview: New Energy, New Expectations

After a tough stretch of seasons, the PikeView Panthers are no longer quietly rebuilding—they’re rising.

With Jack Turner entering his second year as head coach, the Panthers are showing major signs of life. Turner brings over 30 years of experience and has quickly established a disciplined, high-effort culture focused on the fundamentals of football and the bonds of team unity.

🔁 Core Players Return to Lead the Charge

  • Braydon Mullins (QB/FS) is the heartbeat of this team. A true dual-threat quarterback who also leads on defense, Mullins averaged nearly 70 rushing yards and over 60 passing yards per game in 2024, while also leading the team in interceptions.

“Our offseason is going fantastic and we are building an unbreakable brotherhood that will be unstoppable come fall. We are getting bigger, faster, and stronger so come game day we will smash teams in the mouth! We are going to bring a different culture to PikeView football,” said Mullins.

  • Peyton Mounts (RB/ATH) adds explosive playmaking in both the run and pass game. He tied Mullins for the team lead in rushing and led in receiving yards—a dynamic threat whenever he’s on the field.

“We’re already 10 times better than we have been these past few years. A new attitude and brotherhood has come to life, and everyone’s been dominating the weight room. We’re excited to head to Summers County and prove a lot of people wrong. We’re gonna show up and show out and open a lot of eyes,” said Mounts.

  • Logan Cook (FB/LB) brings toughness and production, especially on the defensive side. He led the team in tackles last season and will anchor the front seven with experience and grit.

Together, this trio gives PikeView a core built for leadership, playmaking, and confidence.

🛡️ Defense: Quietly Becoming a Strength

With players like Cook, Underwood, Bishop, and Horton, PikeView’s defense has quietly turned into a strength. They don’t rely on flash—they wear opponents down through effort, smart positioning, and physicality.

🔍The Road Ahead

The Panthers will be tested against the likes of Liberty-Raleigh, James Monroe, and Independence, but this season is more than a numbers game. It’s about establishing a new identity—one built on resilience, unity, and a hunger to prove doubters wrong.

With leadership from Turner, growth from returning players, and buy-in across the locker room, PikeView is ready to flip the script.

Richlands Tornadoes🌪️ 2025 Football Season Preview: Building the Storm

In Tazewell County, the Richlands Tornadoes are also preparing to rise—with a storm brewing under second-year head coach Ronnie Davis.

After a transitional 2024 season, Davis has had a full offseason to implement his culture and expectations. The results? A tighter, tougher team looking to restore Richlands’ historic edge.

“We got started the first of December and it’s been amazing, picked up where we left off really. Last year we had 2 kids bench 300-plus—this year, it’s gonna be 5 or 6,” said Strength Coach Terry Barrett, describing the program’s offseason progress in the weight room.

🔁 Core Players Return to Lead the Charge

This season, the Tornadoes will lean on a core group of athletes who embody the new culture being forged in blue and white:

  • Collin Adkins (ATH/DB) is a do-it-all athlete who plays with fire on both sides of the ball. From deep coverage to explosive offensive plays, he’s a threat on every snap.

“Last season tested us, no doubt, but we finished strong and carried that momentum into the offseason. The energy’s different now. The young guys have stepped up, grown into their roles, and flat out gotten better at football. We’re building something real,” said Adkins.

  • Hunter Ratliff (LB/RB) sets the tone defensively with sideline-to-sideline pursuit and bruising physicality. He’s also a force in the run game when called upon.

  • Andrew Boyd (QB) brings energy, versatility, and leadership. A vocal and emotional leader, Boyd makes plays and elevates those around him with his presence and intensity.

  • Wynter Boyd (WR/ATH) adds another dimension of athleticism to this Tornadoes squad. A multi-sport standout in basketball and baseball, Boyd is a natural competitor with elite movement, reliable hands, and vertical explosiveness.

“WR, Wynter Boyd is so athletic! Upcoming Sr… 6’1”, jumps out of the gym, great hands, smooth, fast, and big,” said Coach Barrett.

Together, these four players form the foundation of a team looking to grind its way back to relevance.

🛡️ Defense: Tougher. Meaner. Smarter.

Richlands’ identity starts on defense. With Ratliff as its hammer, Adkins roaming the backfield, and Boyd flying to the ball, this unit is physical and focused. They aren’t interested in being flashy—they’re here to out-hit you.

🔍 The Road Ahead

Richlands will face a battle-tested schedule filled with rivalries and challenges. But under Coach Davis, this team is focused on building a new identity—one rooted in physical football, deep community pride, and a blue-collar work ethic.

From offseason lifts to fall Friday nights, the Tornadoes are preparing to show that they’re not just back—they’re coming for more.

Final Thoughts:

Both PikeView and Richlands are walking parallel paths in 2025: second-year head coaches, rising senior leaders, and locker rooms full of young men eager to turn effort into execution.

They’ve been counted out. Now, they’re building back—tougher, tighter, together.
