The BIG WAGU’s Southern WV & SWVA Mid-Season Top 5 Performers

We are nearing the halfway point of this basketball season. We have had several big time tournaments, like the Lil Tony Memorial Tournament, that have showcased some great local talent. The Big Wagu decided to recognize some of the top performers thus far!


Southern West Virginia Boys:

  • "Captain" Jack Williams Shady Spring - Shady Spring’s Leader of that high power offense.

  • M.J. Patton “The General” Summit Christian Academy - PG at Summit Christian Academy, drops dimes & rocks the baby to sleep.

  • Jaylon "Dub Dub" Walton Woodrow Wilson  - He's a threat from anywhere on the court. Averaging a double-double with 18PPG  & 12.1RPG on the season.

  • Drew "Coolhand" Fitzwater Greater Beckley  - Averaging 13.1PPG & 10.6RPG on the season.

  • Jase "To Smooth" Smith Bluefield Beavers - Jase’s play looks effortless, he plays with so much ease.


Southern West Virginia Girls:

  • Ella "the Machine" Botts Summit Christian Academy - Ella had a quadruple double against  . With her handles, shooting, and court vision Botts is the ultimate weapon.

  • Kennedy "Downtown" Stewart Greenbrier East - The Caitlin Clark of Southern WV, she splashed seven deep shots from behind the arc in a game against Pikeview earlier this season.

  • Maggie Borowski & Mya Dunlop James Monroe Mavericks - this "Dynamic Duo" can get you 40 on any given night.

  • Preslee "The Surgeon" Treadway Greenbrier West - She is always slicing and dicing her way to the rim with surgical precision.

  • Cadence “The Point God” Blackburn Wyoming East - Cadence is leading her Lady Warriors to 6-2 record and 2nd Place in the Coalfields AA Region.


Southwest Virginia Girls:

  • Alayna “Lady Terminator” McNulty Honaker - McNulty is averaging a Double-Double with 16.0PPG, 10.6RPG. She ranks 14th in VA in Blocks Per Game with 1.9BPG.

  • Kinley “Nothing But Net” Huff Lee High - Huff is a pure scorer. Driving, floaters, mid range, beyond the arc. It doesn’t matter, she is going to give any team she plays 20+.

  • Anna “Mrs. Double-Double” Summers Castlewood - Anna averages 15PPG & 15RPG. This Castlewood team goes as she goes!

  • Annsley “The Falcon” Trivette Abingdon  - The 6’3 forward, Trivette is leading the 11-3 Falcons like Captain America!

  • Emmah “All-American” McAmis Central Wise - This young lady needs no introduction. She has one of if not the most complete bag in SWVA and Southern WV. The Reigning Class 2 POTY is looking for Back-To-Back!


Southwest Virginia Boys:

  • Brynnen “The General” Pendergraft Lee High - Brynnen plays at such a high level every night other teams put two players to guard him.

  • Reed Kirtner George Wythe - “The Walking Bucket” Reed can finish at the rim with the best of them and will have the Maroons on a 20-2 run in the blink of an eye.

  • Markel “Lightening” Ray Graham - The All-State Dynamo scorer from Graham has only played 1 game so far this season and in that game he scored 20Pts and they won.

  • Ean “The Sniper” Hayes Central Wise - Hayes was named the Powell Valley National Bank Tournament MVP averaging 20.7PPG, 6.0RPG 5.0APG as just a Freshman.

  • Cole “The Big Man” Caywood Patrick Henry- Cole is a walking Double-Double. Every night he will give Patrick Henry 20+ points and 10+ rebounds.
