In a dominant offensive showcase, PikeView rolled past Sissonville with a commanding 54-29 victory, fueled by a powerful rushing attack and key defensive plays. The win featured standout performances from multiple PV players, helping the team maintain momentum through four quarters of explosive football.
Offensive Explosion on the Ground
PikeView’s ground game was nearly unstoppable, racking up 425 rushing yards on 57 carries, with six rushing touchdowns shared among a stable of backs:
• Peyton Mounts led the charge with 17 carries for 208 yards and 2 touchdowns, proving to be the workhorse and game-changer for PV.
• Braydon Mullins also played a crucial role with 22 carries for 97 yards and a touchdown, adding consistency and toughness to the backfield.
• Logan Cook contributed 80 yards on 5 carries, also punching in 2 touchdowns and converting two 2-point conversions.
• Moose Hedrick chipped in 24 yards and a score, while Braden Huggins, and Kyle Williams added support.
In total, seven different players contributed to the ground game, with five reaching the end zone.
Efficient (but Risky) Passing Game
PV didn’t air it out much, but made the most of their limited attempts. Quarterback Braden Huggins went 1-for-4 for 45 yards, but that one completion was a touchdown to Henry Cox. However, Huggins also threw 2 interceptions, a minor blemish in an otherwise dominant offensive effort.
Defensive Playmakers Step Up
The PikeView defense made timely plays to keep Sissonville in check:
• Peyton Mounts mirrored his offensive heroics with 2 interceptions on defense.
• Kyle Williams recorded a key sack.
• The defense also forced a safety, adding two points and momentum to PV’s side.
Sissonville’s Passing Effort Falls Short
Despite the loss, Sissonville found some success through the air, passing for 299 yards and 4 touchdowns, but also threw 2 costly interceptions that hindered any chance of a comeback.
Conversion Success and Discipline
PV converted on multiple two-point attempts, including:
• Braydon Mullins – 1
• Braden Huggins – 2
• Logan Cook – 2
Penalties were kept relatively low, with PV flagged five times for 40 yards.
Final Thoughts
PikeView’s offense clicked on all cylinders, especially on the ground, where they overwhelmed Sissonville’s defense. With stars like Peyton Mounts and Logan Cook leading the charge, and the defense delivering key turnovers, PV proved they’re a force to be reckoned with this season.
PikeView returns to action October 10th at Wyoming East.
