Fresh In The Spotlight: Marvin McNutt

This week we have quite the guest booked! Iowa Hawkeyes all time leading receiver in yards and Touch downs , Marvin McNutt! Marvin didn’t pick up football until his Junior year of High School as he always a basketball player , as a Junior seeing D1 looks. After a promise to a close friend he gave it a try and man did that try turn into dominance as he quickly asserted himself amongst the top recruits in the state.

After visits to Schools such as Missouri , Nebraska and Wisconsin , he decides to call Iowa his home. Mind you , he’s 2 years into playing football at this time. His redshirt freshman year he didn’t receive too much burn and played on the practice squad. Mid way through the next season he made the switch and never looked back.

Marvin went on to break single game , school records and put his name with the elite wide receivers in BIG 10 History. 2800 yards and 28 TDs later he was there. 1300 yards and 12 TDs in his Senior Season to leave his name stamped in Iowa Football History. Next up was obviously the big leagues.

Marvin was drafted by Philadelphia Eagles in the 6th round of the 2012 NFL Draft. After some time with the Birds he went down to Miami where he had thought he found his home. After a stellar pre season he was the odd man out of the room as they chose to only dress 4 receivers. Carolina picked him up where he seen some playing time behind veterans like Steve Smith and Ted Ginn. A last minute stop in Washington , he then pursued a career in coaching.

He coached the Cedar Rapids Titans for a year then he stepped into a front office role being the GM for a season. This led him to a career of coaching on the collegiate level with the Division III Coe Kohawks. After helping contribute to a pair of all conference seasons for WR Dominic Shepardson. He’s decided to step away from his position to pursuit a few other ventures in life in the field of NIL agencies. Tune in this Tuesday to fill in the blanks for the rest!
