Today, marks the start of College Football, with Navy vs 13 Notre Dame, and San Jose St vs 6 USC. Two teams that have a real chance to make it into the College Football Playoffs will have to face each other on Nov. 6th, which could carry massive weight into the second College Football Playoff Rankings announcements. Here are 5 reasons to be a little extra excited for this College Football Season.
Final, final 4! This is the Last season of the 4-team playoff. As of 2024 the CFP will have a 12 team Playoff system. How will the 12-team College Football Playoff work? Under the new format, the six highest-ranked conference champions will receive automatic bids. The field will then be filled with the six highest-ranked teams remaining. The four highest-ranked conference champions receive a first-round bye to the quarterfinals.
Conferences Realignment. BYU, Cincinnati, Houston and UCF will all join The Big 12 this season, the conference will have 14 teams. Cincinnati, Houston and UCF leave for the Big 12, and Charlotte, FAU, North Texas, Rice, UAB and UTSA all join the AAC.
PrimeTime in Colorado! Deion Sanders and his Louis Vuitton luggage arrive at the Pac 12. Sanders accepted the Head Coaching Job at Colorado University in December of 2022 and in March coined the infamous fraise “I'm bringing my own luggage, and it's Louis.”
Florida State is BACK! Winning 10 games last season on the back of Jordan Travis' magical season of 3,214 Passing Yards, 24TDs, and 5INTS. We are all excited to see the LSU rematch on September 3rd.
Matt’s Rhule in Nebraska! Maybe the second biggest head coaching hiring this off season. Matt Rhule was hired to be the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Which means we’ll get to see a matchup of the two biggest coaching hires from this offseason when Nebraska takes on Colorado on September 9th.
